United Way Postpones Fall Day of Caring Due to Hurricane Threat; Prepares for Community Support Efforts

ST. LUCIE & OKEECHOBEE COUNTIES, FL October 7th — In light of the impending hurricane set to impact our area, United Way has made the decision to temporarily postpone our Fall Day of Caring originally scheduled for Saturday, October 12th. The safety of our dedicated volunteers and the community we serve is our top priority during this challenging time.

“As we face the potential impact of this hurricane, our focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of our community,” stated Thom Epsky, President and CEO of United Way St. Lucie & Okeechobee. “We urge everyone to stay prepared and take the necessary precautions to safeguard themselves and their families. This storm serves as a reminder of the importance of community resilience and readiness.”

In the coming days, we may be reaching out for assistance with hurricane relief efforts. We understand that in times of crisis, it is crucial for the community to come together to support one another. Our organization will continue to serve as a mobilizing force, providing resources and facilitating volunteer opportunities to help those affected.

“We are committed to being there for our community, not only during the storm but also in the aftermath,” Epsky added. “Together, we can rebuild and recover, ensuring that no one faces these challenges alone.”
